The United States government has introduced legislation (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) which makes it illegal for USA citizens from certain states to make financial transactions related to gambling. It has not made online gambling illegal. As a result, some Internet poker rooms have, at least for the moment, closed their doors completely to all US poker players, while others like Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker and Poker.com have kept the doors open and are available to players residing in the unaffected states.
Players from the following US states are unable to play online poker -
Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Indiana, Nevada, South Dakota, New Jersey and New York. Residents of other US states are not affected and may still play as before.
In order to assist our USA poker players, our online poker reviews feature an indication of the current position taken by poker rooms regarding this legislation.

If you are any doubt about the legality of online gambling in your state, we strongly urge that you check with your local authority. We do not wish to encourage you to contravene any laws governing online gaming.
